“A big thank you to Gateway for making our jobs easier and helping us to grow. We get to spend more time on other things and not worrying about that part of the billing process. We are so pleased with the professional and courteous customer service we receive with Gateway. Our experience has been one of complete satisfaction. Gateway has helped us reach new heights with our practice. Their system is easy to use and allows us to bill fast and with the fewest rejections. Our office team works hard to make sure accurate info goes into Gateway and the Gateway Team makes sure our claims get taken care of the same way.”

“I became the office manager of this psychiatric practice after being employed here for 13 years.
My first “major” decision was changing our electronic billing service. We chose Gateway EDI; it was the best decision our office has made. The transition from ledger to paperless was smooth and easy with the help of Gateway EDI. Their staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you Gateway EDI for making our office more efficient!”

Over the past few years much has been said about Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIO), now more popularly known as Health Information Exchanges (HIE). The basic concept is the facilitation of data exchange between health care entities with the goal of improving the coordination of care, reducing expenses and improving patient safety. Adoption has been slow however, we anticipate seeing a significant increase due to the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). One of the drivers behind this increased activity comes from the loosely stated “meaningful use” definition associated with the Medicare or Medicaid EHR incentive dollars. Among other things, the Medicare program will require that your EHR is exchanging data with other systems to improve the quality of health. Exactly what this means and what data will be exchanged is still undefined, yet it will result in the movement of some data from or to your system over a secure network.

As payer reimbursements decrease and coverage and benefits constantly change, the return to permission health care of referrals and pre-certifications has begun. Patients are bearing a greater percentage of the bill through increased co-pays and deductibles. And in today’s economic times, patient insurance status is changing far more frequently and there is an increase in patients appearing in your office without insurance. These factors put increasing pressure on you to identify the coverage patients have at the time of service and collect patient payments before they leave the office.

“Gateway is great to work with after being with a previous clearinghouse. Marcia and I would probably turn in our resignations if they took Gateway away from us.”
